The trek is considered moderate to challenging, primarily due to the altitude. The route crosses mountain passes that can exceed 5,000 meters above sea level, so good physical condition is essential.
At some points along the route, altitudes reach close to 5,200 meters, especially at mountain passes like Palomani Pass. Therefore, it is recommended to acclimatize in Cusco before starting the trek.
The best time for this trek is during the dry season, between April and October, when there is less rain and the weather allows you to better enjoy the Andean landscapes.
During the trek, you can observe glaciers, colorful lagoons, snow-capped mountains, and large herds of alpacas and llamas, as well as Andean communities that maintain ancestral traditions.
Although it's not a technical hike, basic mountain trekking experience and proper acclimatization are recommended, as the altitude and long days of walking can be challenging.
