Our agency will pick you up from your hotel or meeting point between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. To begin the Machu Picchu tour, we will travel by bus through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. During this journey, we will appreciate different towns and the changing climates from the Andes to the tropical regions. We will arrive in Santa Teresa, where a buffet lunch awaits us. Afterward, we will continue our Machu Picchu tour by car to Hidroelectrica, where we will begin our hike to the town of Aguas Calientes. The hike takes approximately 2.5 hours.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu), our guide will take you to your respective lodges (with private bathrooms and hot water). In the evening, we will have dinner, and our guide will provide information about visiting the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Visiting the hot springs is optional.
This time we will wake up around 4:00 a.m. and head towards the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. The hike will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. The main objective is to appreciate the sunrise from the Inca citadel and be the first to arrive. Afterwards, we will have a 2-hour guided tour. At the end of your guided tour, you will have free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. After visiting Machu Picchu, around 11:30 a.m., we will walk back to the town of Aguas Calientes and then to Hidroeléctrica, where our transportation will be waiting to take us back to the city of Cusco. This Machu Picchu bus tour arrives in Cusco around 9:30 p.m.
On the first day, you travel by tourist transport from Cusco to the Hidroeléctrica area, passing through Abra Málaga and the Santa Teresa jungle. From Hidroeléctrica, you hike for approximately 2 to 3 hours to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you spend the night before visiting Machu Picchu the following day.
The hike between Hidroeléctrica and Aguas Calientes usually takes between 2 and 3 hours, following the path alongside the train tracks. It's an easy hike surrounded by jungle and mountain scenery.
The night is spent in a hotel in Aguas Calientes, the town located at the foot of Machu Picchu, where travelers rest before the guided tour on the second day.
The guided tour inside the citadel usually lasts around 2 to 3 hours, during which the guide explains the history and the main areas of the Inca sanctuary.
This tour is a more economical and adventurous alternative to traveling by train. It allows you to enjoy the Andean landscape and the jungle during the journey to Hidroeléctrica before arriving at Machu Picchu.
