The Q’eswachaka Inca Bridge Tour (1 day) invites you to discover one of the most fascinating living traditions of the Andes. Located south of Cusco, the Q’eswachaka suspension bridge is the last Inca bridge still in use, constructed entirely from plant fibers using ancestral techniques. Every year, more than a thousand people from local communities gather to renew the bridge in a collective ritual that keeps this ancient heritage alive. This practice was recognized in 2013 by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Itinerary

The Inca Bridge of Q’eswachaka – The 4 Lagoons Circuit

We will begin our Qeswachaka Full Day Tour at 4:30 am by picking up our passengers from their respective hotels/hostels. Once the entire group is assembled at 5:00 am, we will begin our tour in our tourist transport through several districts of Cusco. Our first stop will be in Combapata, where we will stop to use the restrooms and enjoy a local breakfast (two cups of quinoa and bread with cheese).

Then we will head to the Combapata viewpoint. Continuing the tour, we will pass through the district of Yanaoca, one of the eight districts of the province of Canas in Cusco. We will then continue our journey for another hour and arrive at the district of Q’ewe, where the famous Inca bridge of Q’eswachaka is located. This bridge is constructed from plant fibers and is 28.67 meters long. What’s amazing is that it’s rebuilt once a year in June by four local communities. Here, we’ll have time to explore Q’eswachaka and the surrounding area, while your guide tells you the story of this Inca engineering marvel.
We’ll continue our journey for another hour and admire the lagoons of Pampamarca, Asnacqocha, Acopía, and Pomacanchi, where we’ll stop for a picnic lunch. We’ll observe a great variety of regional flora and fauna and experience a rich Andean culture. After our picnic lunch, we’ll return to Cusco, stopping at the Rumipunku Gate before finally arriving back in our tourist transport, a journey of approximately two hours, arriving around 4:30 pm.
