Itinerary

Cusco - Waqrapukara - Cusco

To begin our Waqrapukara Day Tour, accompanied by our professional guide and driver, we will depart from Cusco at 4:00 a.m. heading south. After a 1.5-hour drive, we will arrive in the town of Cusipata, where we will enjoy a homemade breakfast. We will then continue along the paved road, cross the Chuquicahuana Bridge, and make a brief stop at Pumacanchi Lagoon to appreciate the scenic beauty and abundant wildlife. After passing through the village of Sangrará, we will leave the paved road and ascend in a zigzag pattern to the Aqomoqo Pass (4,350 meters above sea level), where we will begin the 2-hour hike to the Waqrapukara archaeological site (4,200 meters above sea level).

At 8:30 a.m., we will begin the 6-kilometer hike along a flat, mostly downhill path. At 10:30 a.m., we will arrive at our final destination and, together with our professional guide, explore the imposing and enigmatic Inca administrative, religious, military, and astronomical center. After marveling at it and taking photographs, we will take a few minutes to enjoy refreshments. Then, we will return to the parking lot and take our transportation back to the city of Cusco. Arrival in Cusco is approximately between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m.
