We depart early from Cusco in a private bus, traveling through stunning Andean valleys and picturesque rural communities. Along the way, we’ll visit the Chullpas of Ninamarca, a pre-Incan burial site, and the charming colonial town of Paucartambo, where we’ll explore a local museum.
We’ll enjoy lunch in the mystical cloud forest, home to the spectacled bear and the Andean cock-of-the-rock, Peru’s national bird. In the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Pilcopata and spend the night in a cozy lodge.

Day 2: Pilcopata – Aguas Calientes – Boca Manu (300 m above sea level)

After an early breakfast, we’ll venture into the forest to observe monkeys and birds in their natural habitat. Then, we’ll visit a coca plantation and an animal rescue center.
We’ll continue by bus to Puerto Atalaya, on the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios River. From there, we’ll embark on an exciting boat trip, spotting a wide variety of birds such as herons and cormorants. We’ll stop to relax in hot springs before arriving at Boca Manu, where we’ll spend the night in a lodge.

Very early in the morning, we’ll visit the parrot clay lick, a breathtaking natural spectacle. After a stop at the Limonal checkpoint, we’ll continue upriver to the Reserved Zone, where we’ll spend two nights at Casa Machiguenga.

Along the way, you’ll be able to observe an incredible diversity of birds and animals, including macaws, eagles, capybaras, caimans, and with luck, even a jaguar. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the rainforest on a hike and spend the night at the rustic Casa Matsiguenka.
