Itinerary

Day 01: Puerto Maldonado / Tambopata Reserve / Lodge

Airport and/or bus terminal pick-up and transfer to the office where you can leave any luggage you won’t be taking on the tour. Then, transfer to the port (Capitanía port) for an hour downriver in a motorized boat that will take us to the port on Lake Sandoval. From there, we’ll enter the Tambopata Candamo National Reserve with an approximately one-hour hike to the lodge where we’ll settle into our comfortable rooms. The lodge has private bathrooms and is located within the national reserve, which sets it apart from other lodges. We guarantee you’ll see abundant flora and fauna and have a closer connection with nature. After resting for a while and enjoying a typical Amazonian lunch, we’ll begin our tour of Tambopata with a hike along one of the trails. You’ll see different species of plants and birds. Our guide will explain their uses in detail.

Afterward, we’ll hike to see ancient trees. You’ll also see different birds such as the harpy eagle, parrots, and macaws. After getting the best introduction to Tambopata, we embarked on a boat trip deep into the jungle to spot caimans. Their bright red eyes are captivating. Around dusk, we’ll return to the lodge.

Day 02: Amazon Lodge / Canopy / Lake Sandoval

We will wake up very early to visit the palm clay lick. This is a special place within the reserve where different species of macaws and parrots gather to eat the dried palm fronds, which are rich in minerals such as calcium, sodium, and potassium. These minerals are very important for the birds’ digestion. Afterward, we will return to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, we will take a hike to appreciate the wonderful flora, and along the way, we may see some animals such as monkeys, deer, wild boars, tapirs, sloths, and more. We will then return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, we can swim in Lake Sandoval safely. Then, we will visit the lake in a canoe, paddling to the other side for a panoramic view and to watch the sunset. We will then return to the lodge for dinner. After dinner, we will share stories and legends of the jungle, and then we will go to our rooms for the night.

Day 03: Lake Sandoval / Canopy – Zip Line / Hostel

After breakfast, we’ll take a short hike deep into the jungle to a small river. Here you can fish for piranhas and bring them back to the lodge. Our chef will be happy to cook you lunch, using Amazonian spices. Afterward, we’ll take a motorized boat upriver to the adventure circuit, starting with a 15-minute hike through the forest. The guide will explain the medicinal plants and wildlife that typically inhabit this area. We’ll reach a 27-meter-high tower, which we’ll ascend comfortably. This will lead us to a suspension bridge and the slingshot launch platform. First, we’ll cross the 89-meter-long treetop bridge, reaching a height of 37 meters amidst the main branches of an ancient tree. This is a great opportunity to see animals that are impossible to spot from the ground—an unforgettable experience. Then, the guide and assistants will prepare us for a pure adrenaline rush. Using all the necessary safety equipment, we’ll zip along a cable and feel like a bird soaring over the jungle, covering 190 meters in just a few seconds. We guarantee 100% safety, fun, and plenty of adrenaline from the adventure. After a typical lunch and rest, we’ll head to our lodge.
In the evening, after dinner, we’ll have a farewell toast. An optional night hike is available.
