Depending on your choice, our City Tour will begin at either 11:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m., a journey through the rich history and culture of the ancient Inca capital. We will explore Qoricancha, the Temple of the Sun, a masterpiece of Inca and colonial architecture. Then, we will head to the impressive archaeological complexes of Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Tambomachay, and Pucapucara, located just outside the city.
At the end of the tour, we will return to Cusco, where you can continue exploring its history-filled streets or relax for the next stage of your adventure.
At 7:30 a.m., we’ll begin our adventure with a pick-up from your hotel, immersing ourselves in the history and culture of the Sacred Valley.
Our first stop will be in Chinchero, where we’ll explore its vibrant artisan market and discover the ancient technique of Andean weaving. Next, we’ll visit Moray, an amazing Inca agricultural laboratory with circular terraces designed for the study of microclimates. We’ll continue to the Maras Salt Mines, a spectacular landscape of over 3,000 salt ponds that have been exploited since pre-Inca times.
At midday, we’ll travel to Urubamba, where we’ll enjoy a buffet lunch surrounded by the valley’s breathtaking beauty. Afterward, we’ll make a brief stop at a panoramic viewpoint before arriving in Ollantaytambo, an archaeological gem where we’ll explore the Temple of the Sun and its impressive terraces.
Then we’ll board our train to Aguas Calientes, where we’ll take you to your hotel so you can relax and unwind. If you wish, you can optionally enjoy the medicinal thermal baths for an additional cost of S/ 10, a perfect experience to revitalize yourself before the magical adventure that awaits you the next day: the exploration of the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu.
Continuing your journey, early in the morning, we’ll transfer you to the bus station to begin the exciting ascent to the Archaeological Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. The ride takes approximately 25 minutes and will lead you to the majestic Inca citadel.
Once there, an expert guide will take you on a tour of approximately 3 hours, where you’ll discover fascinating aspects of the Cusco (Inca) culture and the ingenuity behind its impressive stone constructions. You’ll marvel at unique buildings, full of mystery and energy. The citadel features both agricultural and urban areas, including plazas, temples, pathways, staircases, terraces, and aqueducts, all supported by stone retaining walls. Machu Picchu is a true feat of architecture and engineering, and it’s no wonder it’s considered one of the 7 Wonders of the World.
At the end of your tour, we’ll return by bus to the charming town of Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have time to enjoy a delicious lunch. Afterwards, you’ll board the train to Ollantaytambo, where our driver will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Cusco. An experience you’ll remember forever!
